  • Welcome

  • To The Algona Area Chamber of Commerce
    Thank you for visiting!

Algona offers beautiful living spaces nestled around it’s thriving business community with over 5,500 people living throughout the city. Algona is also the hub of Kossuth County, the largest county in Iowa. There are more than 10 small communities surrounding Algona throughout the county whose 3,500+ residents utilize Algona's retail stores, restaurants, and facilities. You will find Fortune 500 companies like Hormel, Corteva Agriscience, and Snap-on Tools to an array of unique retail establishments for shopping.

Our medical facility, Kossuth Regional Health Center, operates a 25-bed critical access hospital, two physician clinics, home care, hospice and public health nursing agencies.

Algona is a family-oriented, friendly, and safe community where our children thrive and succeed. Algona has a very low crime rate thanks to the local police department and sheriff department who are both housed in downtown Algona. Both our public school and private catholic school systems have a 98% graduation rate. Due to the generosity of many local benefactors, many of the graduating students go on to continue their education with the help of over one million dollars of scholarships given out each year. Iowa Lakes Community College is also part of Algona and offers many opportunities and resources for continuing education.

We have campgrounds and many recreational activities, including Smith Lake to camp, fish and boat or enjoy the Water's Edge Nature Center; Ambrose A. Call State Park has camping, hiking trails, and shelters for picnicking. There are also two golf courses, miniature golf, aquatic center, a YMCA with indoor pool, bike trails, 5-screen movie theatre, many community parks, and three historical museums. Algona is fortunate to have a state-of-the-art performing arts center and a newly remodeled public library that rivals larger cities. Due to generous support from the community, Algona now has a brand-new skate park and splash pad. Only 20 minutes from Algona is the world famous Shrine of the Grotto of the Redemption in West Bend, IA.

Come join us in Algona, where you can live, work, play and make memories!
